Hello! I'm Sharn. I love adventures especially those on two wheels. Here is a space where I hope you will enjoy all things adventures that I share :-)

I'm an elite mountain biker. I race for WXC World racing, a female team passionate about supporting youth and young women riders, a team I am very proud to be part of. In 2019 my first year racing elite and racing the National XC series I was ecstatic to come 5th in the Elite F series standings!

That year I was also very privileged to qualify to represent Great Britain in the Elite MTB Marathon World Championships in Switzerland. Despite a puncture in the first 10km, I had an amazing time, and was super grateful for such an incredible experience.

My true love affair for the outdoors and adventure started when I was a teenager, I took part in an event called 'Ten Tors' whilst at school. A team event over a weekend on Dartmoor, covering various distances. This opened opportunities into the climbing world. I went on to enjoy, many fun climbing and mountaineering adventures for a few years; and then got into triathlon. I found I was able to do quite well gaining many podiums in local races. In my first proper year of triathlon I completed Ironman France, and the following year Ironman Wales. From here I started to get into more endurance cycling events completing the weeks mountain stages of TdF route through the 'Tour de Force', as well as the Transalp 7 day MTB stage race a couple of times. I went back to uni in 2015 to study Physiotherapy and during this time I was lucky enough to be selected onto the sports scholarship programme allowing me to study and race hard. During this time I represented Great Britain at Age Group level in Cross Triathlon at European and World Championship events gaining a colourful array of bronze, silver and gold medals alongside somehow managing to gain a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy!

It was here my love for MTB was truly ignited, and I decided to focus my efforts on the MTB when I started a very demanding full time job in the NHS, and I didn't really have time to train for other disciplines. In amongst my passion for MTB XC racing I have developed a real love for bike packing. I enjoy both solo adventures and those with friends. Like my other adventures I get such a wonderful sense of achievement and fulfilment from these trips. Which leave many beautiful lasting memories I can share with friends for years to come. Last year I followed the GBDuro event and was mesmerised by the event and the strength of the participants; thinking it was beyond me. Then in the depths of a very challenging winter hole of 2020/2021, I decided I needed a journey and a focus to work my way out. So I applied, and got accepted! The anticipation, preparation and the challenges that lie ahead in the GBDuro is an adventure I am much in need of. If there is one thing that covid has taught us, is that we need to be more in tune to what wonderful things we overlook that are in such close proximity. One of those being our beautiful country, and what better way to explore the UK than cycling from one end to the other, over the toughest sections! I am very lucky to have the support of Planet X bikes for the GB Duro. They have provided me with the On One Free Ranger Gravel bike ('Wurly'), which is just the perfect tool for the job. Wurly is beautiful to ride, handles amazingly; and super bright and cheery - a true smile starter!

I currently also work full time as Physiotherapist in the NHS and privately, a career I love.

I am super passionate in sharing what I have learnt through the many adventures I have been lucky enough to partake in, like others have with me. So if you have any questions please do get in touch and I'll be more than happy to answer :-)
